This piece is the synergy of my main muses; the Golden Ratio, Dodecahedron, Icosahedron, and Intertwining (and/or knot-work). One of the goals of this piece was to make a sort of ‘Yin Yang’ with Dodecahedron and Icosahedron. These two shapes each create the other, each holds the seed for the other. Hence Icosa on one …
This is a piece of Alaskan Yellow Cedar that I carved by hand. Inspired by knotwork, working a particular 2D pattern I saw in a calendar into 3D. It is basically 15 great circles, in icosahedron/dodecahedron symetry. It is an interlaced lattice of a dodecahedron, an icosahedron and a rhombic triacontahedron. It’s about 4 1/2 …
This sphere is inspired by the Flower of Life Sphere. The lines are 15 great circles of icosa/dodeca symetry. Divided up as they are, they create three nets, a dodecahedron, and icosahedron and a rhombic triacontahedron. I intend to carve it so that each part goes over and under it’s neighbors, like three inter-woven lattices.
This carving is based on the Icosa-Dodeca 6 bands weave. Each band made into a spiral corkscrew, so that they could all under/overlap each other. Then Flower of Life patterning engraved in. A sphere, carved as the Earth is continented, rattles in the center.
