• The Intertwined Golden Love of Icosa & Dodeca

This piece is the synergy of my main muses; the Golden Ratio, Dodecahedron, Icosahedron, and Intertwining (and/or knot-work).  One of the goals of this piece was to make a sort of ‘Yin Yang’ with Dodecahedron and Icosahedron.  These two shapes each create the other, each holds the seed for the other.  Hence Icosa on one …

  • Tree of Life

Inspired by the traditional Celtic motif, this is my dodecahedral interpretation of the Tree of Life.  Fueled from the singularity at the center (the tree’s trunk) the past and the future (the trees’ roots and branches) entwine around each other, weaving the present (the dodecahedron that encompasses the whole).  In general the energy flow is toroidal, …

  • Dodeca Stars

One of my Winter projects.  Long winter nights seemed to have inspired many starry works.  This is basically a study in the amazingness of pentagrams, how they link up to make larger pentagrams, especially interesting when tiling a dodecahedron, or in this case a variation of a dodecadodecahedron.  Interesting thing about the photograph is the …

  • Knotwork Sphere

This is a piece of Alaskan Yellow Cedar that I carved by hand. Inspired by knotwork, working a particular 2D pattern I saw in a calendar into 3D. It is basically 15 great circles, in icosahedron/dodecahedron symetry. It is an interlaced lattice of a dodecahedron, an icosahedron and a rhombic triacontahedron. It’s about 4 1/2 …
