The Great Stellate

This form is officially called the Great Stellated Dodecahedron.  12 pentagrams interlace to create it’s 20 pyramids.  If you start with a regular Dodecahedron and extend each of it’s 12 pentagonal faces into a pentagram, then you get what’s called the Small Stellated Dodecahedron, that has 12 pyramids each with 5 sides.  If you were to have 12 bigger pentagrams around the original 12, then you end up with the Great Stellated Dodecahedron, with it’s 20 pyramids each with 3 sides.

Oh wow this clears up everything perfectly- I was so confused as to why a great and small stellated dodecahedrons look so different. Now I know! Thank you so much. As a TRI-lodeon I am partial the this symmetry of three, so the 20 tetrahedral three faced spikes is so much more pleasing to me. It seems seems a better far out star to represent the Christ Consciousness Grid- which indeed must be great! 🙂
